Everyday Makeup Staples
Monday, 18 January 2016 | 0 comments

Hi cuties,

Today I'm going to talk about my everyday makeup staples.  These are some of the products I've been using every day on my face and most of these are HG worthy!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original
This is probably my holy grail primer.  I've used the Too Faced version which was comparable, but I find UDPP makes my eyeshadows more vibrant and the formula is less oily.  I have to use this every time I use eyeshadow or liner on my eye.  It makes everything stay put on my eyes all day and night.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara/The Falsies Volume Mascara
I only use one mascara at a time, and therefore I was using Lash Sensational at the time, which was a nice mascara. It lengthened and fanned out my lashes well.  My HG is The Falsies.  It makes my lashes look full, long, and keeps them curled.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Fair
Everyone and their moms love this concealer.  I like this for concealing but most of all, highlighting my face.  It's a light formula so it does not cake up, however it does not have the fullest coverage out there so keep that in mind.  I love using this for light makeup days as well.

The Face Shop Lovely me:ex Design My Eyebow in 03 Black Brown
I really like this eyebrow pencil and I go back to it time and time again.  It formula is not too soft but not too hard so it's easy to fill in my brows to make them full and as light or dark as I want.  It's a twist-up pencil with an angle so it's easy to use and it comes with a spooly brush on the end for blending and combing.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner in Ultra Black
This is my favourite drugstore liquid liner because it's super black and it has a brush tip.  It's the most similar to my favourite DollyWink liquid eyeliner for a slightly cheaper price.  I can't tell you if the lash boosting claim actually works though.

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer
I love this brozer because it's a neutral to cool toned brown unlike most bronzers which makes it ideal for cool toned people like me and also doubles up well for contour.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer
This is my favourite highlighter that I own.  It's a champagne colour that makes you glow like it's nobodies business.  I love this especially for a nose highlight.  The product is not glittery, slightly shimmery but overall just gives the perfect glow to the skin.  It's worth the money.

2014 Winter Wishlist - Makeup
Tuesday, 25 November 2014 | 0 comments

The holidays are around the corner and the year is coming to a close end.  That means it's time for a new wishlist of the year :)  Here are some of the makeup items that I've had my eyes on for the whole entire year.  Most of these are cult favourites.  It would be nice to get even one of these items on this list!  What are your makeup wishlist items?

Dolce & Gabbana Blush - Tan
This is a recommendation from my favourite Youtuber HeyClaire.  She uses this to contour her face and I just love the way it looks.  It's a cool toned bronzer colour, which fits my undertone so much better than all the warm orange bronzers out there.  She also recommended NYX's blush in Taupe as a similar (but not quite) dupe, which I absolutely love and is what I'm using now.  I'd love to upgrade to a higher quality version of it, so this is definitely something I want!

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer
Ah yes, another bronzer.  I love contouring and I've heard a lot of great things about this one.  I think this would be a good summer time one as it is slightly warmer than the D&G one.  This would be second on my list of most wanted bronzers if I wouldn't have my first pick.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita
Ahhh, look at that packaging!!!  I must admit, I mostly want this lipstick for the packaging and the name; Lolita.  But, I am on the hunt for the perfect mauve/MLBB shade and people have said this is very promising.  I'd definitely have to go in person to test it out and it's not something I would blindly buy online.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light
This product has been talked about a lot during the beginning of the year and it has caught my attention.  I'm a big contour and highlight girl as both are part of my daily makeup routine and I want a really good quality cool/pink toned highlighter that makes it look like I'm glowing within!

Fresh Sugar Lychee Perfume
If I were to be turned into a scent and bottled up, this is exactly what I'd smell like.  I always go into Sephora whenever I can to spray myself down with this, and I've even gotten several samples of it.  It's just too pricey for me to splurge on right now!

MAC lipstick in Cyber
This.  This lipstick is the lipstick.  I love dark vampy lips, and this is the one that I need in my life.  Some people are scared of dark lips but not me.  I say, the darker the better.  Wet n Wild's Vamp It Up which is a close dupe to Cyber and I loveeeee the colour.  The only problem with Vamp It Up is that it's extremely patchy!  I want a good quality lipstick that will give me an even opaque application and that's where Cyber comes in.

Sigma Essential Kit - Mrs. Bunny
Everyone needs a good set of brushes and these have been well known to be some of the best brushes out there.  It's important to have a set of essential brushes to make your makeup application that much more professional and easier!

Lorac Pro Palette 2
The first pro palette didn't really catch my attention because it seemed like there were a lot of warm tones which I am not drawn to.  But the pro palette 2?  This is filled with way more cool toned shadows which I love and really want to get my hands on!  The shade I'm most excited for is that plum matte shade!

Etude House Golden Ratio Contour Maker Review
Wednesday, 20 November 2013 | 0 comments
I'm finally tackling the last couple of items off my Korea Haul list.  I've only got a couple more items and then I can move on to the rest of the reviews I should be doing hehe.  I'm gonna start writing them as drafts and just publish them each one by one as time goes by.  Since school is so busy, I hardly have time to blog anymore so hopefully this will bring some consistency to my updates.

Today I'll be reviewing Etude House's Golden Radio Contour Maker!  I don't know why it took me so long to pump this one out because this was one of the items that I was most excited for!  I love contouring my face, so when I saw this, I knew I had to get it.

It's about the size on my palm, so it's good for traveling because you get a blush, highlighter, and bronzer all in one.  On the back, there's a diagram showing you what shade goes where.

Can we just talk about the name for a second?  As an art student, hearing "golden ratio" is just so fulfilling to me.  If you're unfamiliar with the golden ratio, it's basically a mathematical ratio that is used to produce "aesthetically pleasing" proportions.  You can see examples of this ratio in buildings and paintings, but also in nature such as your finger (the three joints in your finger and the length between each point is roughly the golden ratio), on seashells, and even in flowers.  Now you've learned something new :)
The name is so fitting for this contour pack because why do people contour?  To bring out their features and slim down their faces to create a more pleasing structure.  Or at least, that's why I do it!

Like I said, inside comes with a bronzer, highlighter, and blush.  There's also a soft mini brush that comes with it which actually comes in handy.  I usually don't use applicators/brushes that come with products because they tend to be crappy but this brush's bristles are very soft and small enough to get right between your nose to help contour.  It's really handy for when you're traveling or on the go and can't bring a full-sized brush with you.

This is how they look when swatched.  From left to right, bronzer, blush, highlighter.  I really like the bronzer because it's not as orange-y as a lot of bronzers I've come across.  It's medium pigmented so you can make subtle contours on your nose and cheeks, but you can also build on the colour if you need a more intense contour.

The blush is a satiny light peachy pink with a sheen to it.  I don't really use this blush much because I have one in a similar colour, sans sheen, which I enjoy better.  When applied on the face, I noticed it isn't as pigmented as I'd hoped, so I hardly ever use it.

The highlighter is my favourite part.  There's such a large portion of it, compared to the blush and the bronzer which makes me very happy.  It's a pinky-white shimmery highlighter and really makes your features pop when you apply it to your face.  My favourite way to use this is down the bridge of my nose.  It instantly makes my nose look taller and slimmer.  I absolutely love this highlighter.  I'd say this is a powder version of Benefit's High Beam, except High Beam leans more towards the pinker side, while this is more of a white with a pink undertone.   (High Beam is my favourite western brand highlighters but it's just so expensive!)

Let's talk about the packaging.  I love this packaging, just like every other Etude House products.  They seem to always have the best and cutest packaging out there.  It's a plastic compact with a mirror on the inside, but if I had to critique it a little bit, I'd say it's a little too bulky.  It could be slimmed down just a tiny bit as it's about an inch thick.  Also in the the front where it snaps shut, there's no indent for your finger to help pry it open, so you kind of just have to grip it tight and pull it open.  I don't have too much trouble opening this product, but for user-friendliness, it would help.  Again, it's not too big of a deal though.

Rating: ★★★★☆  4/5

I love 2/3 of the product in here, and the one blush is just whatever; I don't really care for it but it's nice to have around if I ever needed a blush.  I've recently bought a new contour colour so instead, I've been using that.  But prior to buying that, I've been using this bronzer as my contour a lot and I've made quite an indent in it.  As for the highlighter, well, I've been using the crap out of it and I love it a lot.  It's my go-to highlighter for sure.  If I ever run out, I'd be super sad.  Does Etude House make just the highlighter on it's own?  If so, I'm definitely going to try and get one as a backup, because the highlighter is the most important part of this product for me, hehe.

Got this item?  Tried it?  Let me know what you think of it and if you like it just as much as me!  Leave a comment on my tagboard~
