Summer is half way over and it's sad that I'm still actually "in school".  Is school just being ridiculous because my summer doesn't "officially" start until the end of this month, after my exam.  Anyway, that's pretty much what I've been up to lately.  Kidding.

I probably disappeared because I went camping.  Yeah, me.  Camping.  Look, I have pictures to prove it.

It was my first time and I think my favourite part would be eating by the campfire.  There was a beach near our camp site so we ventured off and hung out there for a while.  It was a really fun weekend full of booze!  We're going back in the beginning of September right before school starts :)

Besides that, I recently finished reading The Fault In Our Stars because so many people seem to have hyped it up.  It was an alright book.  I ended up picking another one of John Green's books.  This one I'm currently still reading, but so far it has gotten my attention.

Coke started releasing custom named bottles in stores this summer.  This isn't a new thing to me as I've seen them in other countries before, but I was really excited to find them here.  I found a bunch of my friend's names and sent them pictures of their bottle, but I just couldn't resist picking up my own.

One thing that I'm really proud of myself for doing is actually picking up a paintbrush and painting!  Ever since high school ended, I never painted after that and it's a shame because I almost forgot how much I actually loved painting.  I drew up this idea exactly a year ago and it was actually a mural idea that I was going to paint on my wall, but I decided a canvas was probably the better alternative.  Anyway, I spent 7 hours or so painting it but it was totally fun and worth it.  I absolutely love seeing my hand covered in paint, and I managed to go through a whole tube of white.

Tonight, I managed to cross off another painting I've been meaning to do for the longest time.  Of course, I picked up more white paint and I spent the entire night doing this little bad boy.  I need to hang this somewhere in my room.

I bought two lipsticks over the past two days.  I shall definitely do reviews on them but let's just say that Maybelline has some kick ass lipstick formulas.  Can you guess which swatch I ended up buying?

Anyway, so now you know where I've disappeared off too.  I've really just been consumed with studying, painting, and spending time with family and a few friends.  I'll try to post more often but who am I kidding?  I can never promise that.

Art Thief Alert!
Saturday, 21 December 2013 | 0 comments
One thing that I really hate are art thieves.  As an artist and designer myself, I know exactly how frustrating it is to see your original art and ideas being stolen and used to gain popularity when you are the one who did all the hard work and is not even credited for.

I stumbled upon some blog posts about this one certain Youtuber that has been stealing nail art designs and not crediting the original designers.  And I've checked out her channel and found that she is a "somewhat" popular Youtuber (although personally, I've never heard of her before seeing these posts), which makes it even worse because so many people believe it's her original idea and she's probably gaining money from stealing designs.  Another thing people have mentioned is that she deletes and blocks anyone who comments to call her out.  Obviously this is a desperate attempted to try and censor everything her followers see so she can continue to trick people into thinking she's so original and what not.

Her name on Youtube is MissJenFabulous.  I'm not going to go into full detail about it but please visit this blog post to read all about it.

I know this isn't the kind of posts I usually do, but I feel very strongly about art thieves and I really wanted to spread the word and let all her followers know what's going on since she obviously is trying her hardest to prevent herself from being exposed.

SNIKT & SMASH.

How is it August already?!  I think I'm having too much fun not doing anything with my life.  Thinking about going back to school is making my head hurt already...  Anyway, let's not think about that for now...

The Wolverine

Last night, Charming and I went to see the Wolverine in theaters and I've been waiting to watch it for soooo long but couldn't last week because of my wisdom tooth (more about that later!)  Wolverine is my favourite comic book character ever and anything X-Men related gets me super excited.  I've spent most of my high school years reading all the X-Men comics available in the library and I've seen all the movies.  I'm definitely a fan.  Needless to say, there hasn't been an X-Men movie I haven't liked (some more than others, of course) but maybe that's just because I'm pretty bias.  With that being said, I liked this movie a lot too.  It's all about Wolverine, who wouldn't love that?  There's not much I can say about it without spoiling it, but to summarize overall, it was enjoyable because there were quite funny quotes in there that made the whole theater laugh all at the same time.  I enjoyed those the most.  Good ol' Logan, am I right?  OH!  And if you're watching it in theaters, don't leave until the very end!  Some people left thinking it was the credits, but there's actually a "secret" scene that will hint you to something coming up which I'm totally stoked about!  I did some digging and found a lot more information about it, so I'll write about it at the end of this entry and put it under the cut, just in case people don't want to read it or have any potential spoiling!

As mentioned, I did get my wisdom tooth taken out the other week.  I wasn't put under sleep or anything, just numbed with needles so I could see everything that was going on... (Dad didn't allow me to get put under!  What the heck?)  But I survived it none the less.  The first day wasn't that bad, as I was able to eat a bit and I didn't feel a thing because I was still numb for quite some time.  Minimal to no swelling.  I thought I was doing great.  I thought.  The next day when I woke up, my cheek was swollen like crazy.  I was so painful and I looked so stupid haha.  I couldn't eat anything but jello, so I was weak for the entire week.  That wasn't fun.  I basically stayed in bed for and slept most of the day away.  I hated going through all of that and I hope I don't have to take out the rest of them ever!

Smashbook

So while I was stuck in bed all week, I stumbled upon some scrapbooking blogs and found out about Smashbooks.  They're essentially scrapbooking books that come with designed pages and a whole line of cute accessories to use.  The cool thing is it comes with a felt-tip pen that has a glue stick on the end so you can write and glue on the go.  How cool is that?  I must admit, the whole "Smashbook" concept is just a very good marketing plan and you can very definitely DIY your own unique version.  However, some people see Smashbooks a branch off of scrapbooking.  I've never scrapbooked before so I'm not sure what the whole deal with it is but I guess you could say Smashbooks are a more messy, care-free, and guided scrapbook for people that are just starting out and aren't familiar with the craft, like me.

(Sorry for the flash pictures.  It was night by the time I got home and I was too excited to use it so I quickly took pictures for the sake of it.  Go to my Instagram to see my process work!

I got the red doodle version because I felt it was quite fitting for an art student like me.  I really love all the pages inside.  They're really cute and just by style.  I love that the pen doesn't leak through paper.  The glue (I've heard) doesn't stick well with glossy paper a.k.a. magazines, but I haven't tried that yet.  I like that it's small so if you have to glue small parts, it's easier than using a giant glue stick.
I also got the black polka dot tape because it's such a cute and simple print.  I think it looks good with a lot of different layouts and designs.  It's a good buy :)

I've started to work on some pages and I'm having so much fun.  It really does take up a lot of time but you'll hardly realize it's passing.  I wish I started this earlier so maybe I'd have a more productive summer, haha.

Anyway, here's the usual food picture dump.  I seem to eat the same things over and over again, don't I?  Well, they're good.

Charming and I took my little brother downtown for brunch because he has never experienced something like that before.  He's the type that doesn't like to go out and leave his room or computer so it was a challenge to get him out of the house.  I wanted to get him out and into the world for once.  He's been living here in the city for so long but never really explored downtown or any part of town, really.  I told him I'd bring him to Chipotle and he was totally excited throughout the whole day for that.

On the same day, I was able to get some gel pens I've been wanting for a very long time, and this "I can't sleep" journal that I've been waiting to go on sale for a whole entire year.  It finally did!  These gel pens glow under UV light, so that made me pretty excited.  Originally I wanted the gel pens that emboss so you can feel the texture, but I'm not quite sure we sell them here anymore.  I remember them as a kid back in the 90's, but haven't seem them around since.  This is the closest I get to gel pens now a days.

More X-Men and possible spoiler alert!

Okay so here's where I promised I'd talk about some more info about X-Men and all that jazz.  If you don't want to know ANYTHING about it, stop reading now.  If you want to know the topic I'm going to talk about but no detailed info: it's about the new X-Men movie.  I'll make that white so you can highlight it and read :)  And now, we'll begin!
