Birthday haul and updates
Sunday, 9 February 2014 | 0 comments
Hello cuties,

I hope everyone is doing well.  I've been a little better, but you know how things go.  Life is sometimes such a struggle, isn't it?  But we will all make it through eventually :)  I hope everyone enjoyed the eye tutorial I posted a couple of days ago.  I had fun doing it and I look forward to doing more in the future.

I never got to do a birthday haul, so here's what I got beauty wise!  My friends are the best and really know how to treat me^^

I was gifted the Kat Von D Spellbinding Eyeshadow book, The Face Shop's Floral Water Mist, and the Mild Papaya Peeling Gel.  I will have tutorials for all of these items as well!  So far, I love all of these products, especially the eyeshadow book.  The colours are amazing!  A big THANK YOU to all my friends for gifting me these presents.

Yesterday, I went to the drugstore and picked up some things that were on sale.  I was feeling a bit sad but once started picking up items in the store, I felt a lot better ;)  Retail therapy is seriously a girl's best solution, don't you think?

So I picked up some nail stuff and a lipstick I've been wanting for a while.  One thing that you must know about me is that I love matte.  All matte everything.  I don't know what it is about it that I love so much, but I've always loved matte things.  (Matte cars, matte eyeshadows, matte printing paper)  What's better than a matte red lip and matte nails?  NOTHING, that's what!  Also, I saw this mini nail kit on sale so I figured I'd pick it up and see if it's any good.  I've never heard of this "Witchcraft" brand and when I tried to Google this set for a review, nothing popped up.  So I'll surely be doing a review on it once I've used it a couple of times.  Come to think of it, I've never really put that much effort in taking care of my nails, but I have been lately.  I'm totally okay with that.

I celebrated my birthday a couple of days after because it landed in the middle of the week.  Everyone was too busy on a Wednesday night, so we all went to karaoke on the Saturday of.  We drank and sang our hearts out which was much needed for me.  I really enjoyed the night and got quite tipsy.

Half the group had to leave early so the rest of us went to get food and more alcohol.  If you can't tell, I absolutely love to drink.  Need a drinking partner?  Right here, baby!

This week has been a very design-filled week for me. Projects were due and my design textbooks came in.  Have you ever seen someone so excited for textbooks?  They're quite pretty, aren't they?  I was more excited for the HTML&CSS one more than the research one (which was the mandatory one), but you know.

(Here's the inside of the HTML&CSS one!)

I spent the rest of the day in bed watching a movie while devouring a Whopper, and doing some sketching.  Sometimes it's so nice to get lost in some art.  It's something that I don't do often enough.  But I guess that's a good thing because when I do, it's a very refreshing feeling.

Oh, and here is a preview of the Sally Hansen matte top coat.

Today, I went to the bookstore because my brother needed to pick up a book for school.  He chose Oliver Twist, and I really liked the design of the cover.  There goes my design side of me again, huh?  Like I said, it has been a design-filled week for me and I'm loving every bit of it.

Exploring the bookstore really made me want to pick up a bunch of books and read them all.  I really want to find a good sappy romance book, so if there's any recommendations out there, send it my way!  Please nothing that is already made into a movie or is going to be made into a movie, because there's a high chance that I'll just watch the movie instead of reading the book.  I saw books like The Fault In Our Stars, The Notebook, Dear John, etc.  As much as I love those stories (and these are the type of romance books I'm aiming for!), I've already or will see the movie so there's no point in me reading the book.

I also finally picked up a portable charger.  I've wanted one for soooo long and Charming was going to give me one but you know, situations, and such.  So, I just went and bought one for myself and I'm glad I did.  It has 5200mAh and two outputs so you can charge two devices at once.  It also comes with several adapters for Apple, Samsung, and Sony products, and also two sizes of USB plugs.

Originally, I saw one that looked like a milk carton called Momax iPower Milk.  It's only 2600mAh, doesn't come with as many adapters and only has one output BUT IT'S DAMN CUTE, ISN'T IT?  I know the one I have is much better in terms of technicalities but LOOK AT THAT THING!  Who doesn't want a milk carton portable charger?  I'm such a sucker for packaging, but thankfully my dad convinced me not to get this one.  I still have some buyer's remorse, though.  Is it still considered buyer's remorse if you didn't actually buy the product?  Anyway, if anyone is looking for a cute one, I'm letting you know that this thing actually exists and comes in many different colours.  My personal favourite is the white one, but there's also a pink, turquoise, purple, and I believe green.

Last week, I found this jacket on sale at Old Navy for only $20!  I've been looking for a jacket like this for a while and I knew I had to get it because of the price.  It's not extremely warm, so it's going to be perfect for the Spring and Fall weather.  I'm just going to have to wait out this extremely cold Canadian winter before I can bust this baby out.  I can hardly wait!

I don't really like talking about the breakup but I wanted to leave this here because this blog is just so familiar with him.  Some days are harder than others, but I'm slowly just getting by.  I haven't realized it until recently, but I've subconsciously stopped listening to music since the break up.  I think part of me was scared that every song I listened to would remind me of him and make me start crying hysterically.  But one day I just sat myself down and I knew I wanted to compile a playlist of songs that specifically reminded me of our relationship.  These songs tell the story of our relationship that began all the way back in '07-'08 up until now: from when we first fell in love, broke up, missed each other, got back together, then broke up again, all in that order.  I hope that anyone who wants to can listen to this playlist and maybe get a sense of two people's love story, whether it's a good feeling or not.  Although I'm sad, I still like to think about all the memories because they make me happy and I'm so glad they happened.  If anyone is going through something like this, let's get through this together :)

So enough of that emotional stuff.  Here's some random pictures that I've accumulated throughout the weeks.
