Nicole By O.P.I. Nail Polish In Iceberg Lotus
Monday, 2 September 2013 | 0 comments
The other day, I was in the drug store with Charming and I stumbled upon the clearance sections.  So, of course I had to look at everything there and I found this nail polish that was on clearance for $5.  I had to get it.

It's so pretty and reminds me of a mermaid's tail.  This is only the second Nicole by O.P.I. nail polish that I own but I had a good experience with my first one so I was excited to try this one; plus it says they added a new brush which got me curious.

The new brush is an improvement in my opinion.  If you've ever used Nicole by O.P.I. nail polishes, you'll know that they usually have a standard long and thin brush.  However, this new brush is shorter, flatter and stiffer which makes it really easy to apply the polish exactly where you want it to be.  Also, because it's a little more stiff, you're able to make thinner coats which really helps with the drying time.

As for the polish itself, it's very very sheer.  One coat looks like nothing.  On my thumb, I used 7 coats in order to get the exact colour in the bottle.  On my index finger, I applied a thin grey base colour and layered two coats of Iceberg Lotus on top.  Personally, I do enjoy the pure colour without any base colour, but doing 7 layers on every finger is just not practical.  Afterwards, I tried a navy blue base colour but looks better than the grey.  If you're looking into this particular polish, keep in mind that this is best used layered on top of another colour.  That surprised me because my other polish from this brand isn't like this at all.  Perhaps it's because this is somewhat of a glittery nail polish.

Like I said, it reminds me a lot like mermaid tails.  It's a blue-green colour with almost like a green-purple duo-chrome.  In some angles in the light, you can see a shine of purple. When applied on, you can definitely see little specs of green glitter.  But beware that because it's loaded with glitter, it might be difficult to take off just like any other glitter nail polishes.

Rating: ★★★☆☆  3/5

Overally, I really do love the new brush and the colour, but the sheerness of it really wasn't a pleasant surprise.  If I wanted the true colour of the polish, it would take me so many layers to get the colour which I don't have the patients for.  Plus, taking it off is extra tedious.  It did however, dry really quickly between coats as I was able to start a new coat as soon as I was done with the other hand. Now that I have it on my nails, it's really pretty and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.
