The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Special Set Review
Friday, 14 June 2013 | 0 comments
I'm going to start powering through these reviews since I have a lot on my list right now.  I've had this for a long time but never got around to using it until now!  Today I'll be reviewing TheFaceShop's Rice Water Bright Cleansing Special Set.

This is a sample sized box which I got for free because I bought an emulsion from them.  Asia is very generous with their freebies ;)

Inside, you will find three things: Lip & Eye Remover, Rice Cleansing Water, and Cleansing Foam.  I used all three in that order when I took off my makeup.

Lip & Eye Remover:
I soaked my cotton pad with it and held it on my eye for about 20 seconds, then swiped.  This is how much it took off.

As you can see on the cotton pad, it took off all my eyeshadow, some of my mascara, some of my eyeliner, and the concealer I had under my eyes.  However, looking at my eye, a lot of makeup still remained.  I went back and did a couple of more swipes and the makeup was gone.  This remover is very gentle and didn't burn my eye like a lot of other removers do.  Also, you have to shake before using, but it doesn't feel oily at all.

I then used it on my lips.  Keep in mind that I used several different lip stains, which are hard to take off to begin with.  Left it on for 20 seconds and swiped.  It surprisingly took off most of my lip stain off!  Again, I went back in and cleaned off the rest and it was all off.

Rice Cleansing Water:
This is supposed to take of your face makeup while soothing and softening your skin.  When I poured it onto my cotton pad, I noticed that it's a thicker-than-water consistency.

It took off all my face makeup without any problems.  I noticed that after rubbing it into my skin for a while, it starts to dry which means you should work faster with this product if you want to wipe your whole face at one go.  You may have to pour more if not.  Rinse with warm water after using.

Cleansing Foam:
It's described as "Rice water foam cleanser with mild and rich lather".  I used this last to get all the oils and any leftover makeup off my face.

When applied to the face, it was very soft and lathered really well.  It's more of a cream-cleanser lather rather than huge bubbles.  After rinsing off with warm water, I noticed that my skin felt squeaky clean.  Literally.  My skin was hard to rub and it felt like the friction you'd get if you rubbed two rubber things together.  I think this means that all the oils have been completely washed off my face.  If you have dry skin like me, moisturizer is a must after.

Also I noticed that after rinsing my face, I still had some mascara/eyeliner running down my face which means the lip&eye remover didn't quite get it all!  That was a disappointment. These products have a mild perfume scent to it.  I have sensitive skin and this did not irritate me.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ 3/5

Overall, I think these products are okay.  I was really excited about them when I first saw them because I know that rice water helps brighten the skin, which I'm all about.  But after using them, they aren't as impressive as I'd hoped.  They still do their job, but they aren't the strongest makeup removers.  I like the cleanser the most because it's soft and it makes my face feel super duper clean.  If you don't have a TheFaceShop near you, it might be hard to get a hold of if you can't buy things online.  However, the location at Pacific Mall in Toronto sure sells it.  (At least, the last time I went, they did!)
